Kia Dashboard Warning Lights and Symbols

Dashboard Warning Lights
Your Kia dashboard warning lights and symbols are an important system that allows your vehicle to communicate with you as the driver! When Kia warning lights illuminate as you drive throughout Blairsville, you’ll want to know what it means so you can address the notification promptly and effectively. Read on below for a quick guide to common Kia dash lights, and contact our Tri Star Kia service center to get any issues taken care of so you can get back on Indiana roads in no time.

Kia Dashboard Lights: What Do They Mean?

Oftentimes many of the Kia dashboard light meanings are totally harmless. For instance, if your Cruise Control is active or your high-beams are on, you may see a symbol on the dash. However, learning the difference between a Kia malfunction indicator light and a system engagement light will help you have peace of mind when on the road.

Even though there are many Kia dash lights that indicate proper vehicle functions, other lights can be a warning of serious issues. If you notice a Kia warning light with an exclamation and triangle, your Master Warning light has been tripped. Meaning, two or more of the following systems have issues: washer fluid, TPMS, Blind Spot Detection (BSD), or your fuel cap is open.

The following Kia warning lights, symbols, and icons may illuminate at some point in your Kia vehicle’s lifetime. Here’s what they mean:

  • Kia Check Engine Light: The Kia check engine light symbol means an emission issue or some other engine problem has been detected. This is the Kia warning lights exclamation point triangle icon. Bring your Kia in for further diagnosis and service.
  • Engine Oil Pressure Warning Light: When your engine oil is not at the right pressure, your Kia will alert you. More oil should be added as soon as possible to prevent engine overheating.
  • Electric Power Steering (EPS) Warning Light: This light will correspond with your steering wheel and you’ll notice as it becomes increasingly difficult to steer your vehicle. Your power steering system has malfunctioned and maintenance should be scheduled before hitting Johnstown roads again.
  • ABS (Anti-lock Brake System) Warning Light: This is the three-letter icon of ABS surrounded by parentheses. This means that your braking system needs attention.
  • Kia TPMS Light (Tire Pressure Monitoring System Malfunction Indicator): This horseshoe-shaped symbol surrounds an exclamation point and indicates that your tire pressure is low. Head to a nearby Latrobe gas station and fill your tires to the proper PSI!
  • Engine Coolant Temperature Warning Light: If this icon, which looks like a thermometer in water, comes on and stays on, your engine is overheating. Pull over to a safe place, let it cool down, and call for roadside assistance.
